Art 1 Final Portfolio

My favorite project from this year was probably my canvas painting.  I enjoyed it most and I got to learn a lot of things that I never really thought of before when painting.  I improved a lot in painting as well, while working on this project.  This was also my most successful project, and I think it turned out really well!  Here is my painting:
If you didn't read my previous blog post on this project, I will explain it a little bit. (Here is a link to the post.. http://apex-2016-juliaj.blogspot.com/2013/05/painting.html)  So this is a painting of a lake in Switzerland, which I was inspired to paint!  I thought it was really beautiful.  In this painting I added light and shading and I think the clouds are my best part.  They look real, and look like they kind of got captured in motion.  Also, the mountains get darker as they get closer, and that probably added a little bit of life to it.  So I really liked this project, and I hope I will be able to do more painting in the future.

The project I learned most from was the self portrait project.  I not only learned about where facial structures go properly on the face, but also I continued to develop the shading skill, which I needed a little bit of work on.  I also learned more about drawing generally.
As you could probably see, it's not my favorite project, and I didn't turn out as I had hoped, but I did learn a lot from it.  One thing I do want to learn how to do better on this is hair.  I cannot draw hair. (The link to this project's blog:  http://apex-2016-juliaj.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2013-03-12T08:07:00-07:00&max-results=7 )

The one that I used previous skills and techniques most was, again, the painting.  I used drawing, painting, shading, and lighting.  And probably more.  It was also the last project I did, so it had pretty much everything.

Sadly, the project that I thought I learned the least from was the zentangles.  Although they were fun, and it was really fun to be able to paint one in the courtyard, I don't think it improved my artistic ability.  Here are a few pictures of zentangles.

This is a picture of us working on it

 And Another..
And here is our finished project.  It wasn't totally finished, but is was enough, right?
So as you can see, it was tons of fun, but I just didn't learn much.  Except what the word means.  (Which is a  pretty snazzy word I must say)  And here is the link again: http://apex-2016-juliaj.blogspot.com/2013/04/mud-and-zentangles.html

The project that had the most meaning to me, and reflects me as an artist the most, is actually the painting but I already used it twice so I'm gonna say the spray paint project.  It was really the first project where I had a lot of fun and I felt like an artist.
I also like to use spray paint, so I thought it was cool that we got to use it.

And here, in this picture, we got to paint a few flowers, just to have fun while our project was drying :)

Overall, this class was really fun, and I am so glad I got to be in the class I'm in, and that I have improved so much as an artist.
